Who we are
This website, buildy.ca, is run by LOCOVER INC., a Canadian corporation operating as Buildy, 170 Sumach St, Toronto, ON M5A 0C3. You can reach us at [email protected] or (647) 562-4308.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with and what rights you have. We wrote it to be read.
What we collect
- What you send us. When you ask for a demo, a call back or a change to a preview, we collect what you type: your name, business name, phone number or email, and your message.
- Messages. Emails, texts and calls you send us, and our replies.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our servers record technical details such as your IP address and browser, to keep the site secure and working.
- Private previews. When a preview we built for a business is opened, we record the time, the page, the type of device and browser, and a one-way scrambled version of the IP address (we can’t turn it back into the address). This tells us someone looked, so we can follow up at the right time.
We don’t ask for sensitive information. If you pay online, your card details go straight to our payment provider; we never see or store them.
Businesses we contact
We sometimes reach out to local businesses whose websites we think we can improve. To do that, we use contact details the business publishes itself (on its website or Google listing) and public information from its website, such as its services, hours and photos, to build a private preview. Each preview is hidden from Google and shared only with that business.
We keep a record of where we found each address. If you’d like us to stop contacting you or to delete your preview, reply “stop” to any message or email [email protected], and we’ll do it.
Cookies
Our website uses no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels. To count visits we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which works without cookies and doesn’t follow you across other websites. We use one small cookie on our own devices so our own visits to previews aren’t counted. The fonts on buildy.ca are served from our own server. Preview websites we build for businesses may load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address to deliver them.
Why we use it
- To reply to you and do the work you ask for.
- To build and improve previews and websites for you.
- To keep our website secure.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We don’t use your information for purposes you wouldn’t reasonably expect. We never sell it.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that help us run Buildy, and only what they need:
- our web host and Cloudflare (hosting, security and cookie-free visit counts);
- Zoho Mail (our email, Canadian data centre) and Resend (website notification emails);
- Stripe (online payments, if you pay online);
- Google Maps Platform (to look up public business listings).
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Where it’s stored
Your information may be stored and processed in Canada and the United States. Information processed in the U.S. may be subject to U.S. law. We take reasonable steps to protect it wherever it is.
How long we keep it
Only as long as we need it: to answer you, to deliver and support your website, and to meet legal requirements. Previews for businesses that don’t go ahead are deleted when they’re no longer needed. You can ask us to delete your information sooner.
Emails and texts
We send commercial messages only with consent, or where Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation allows it, for example to an address a business publishes, about its business. Every message says who we are and how to reach us, and you can opt out at any time by replying “stop”. We act on opt-outs within 10 business days, usually the same day.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw your consent. Email [email protected]. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Québec residents (Law 25): the person in charge of protecting personal information at Buildy is Ridvan Oral, reachable at [email protected].
If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
